My Idaho Trip
I went to Boise, Idaho in October 2021 for Cellcore’s ECO conference. Idaho was everything I never knew it would be. It was beautiful, safe, and felt so welcoming that I didn’t want to leave. As far as food goes, since we were in the conference for most of the trip I didn’t get to spend as much time on the Boise food tour as I wanted but that was OK because there were much less options for gluten free dairy free food than to places I normally visit. However, the few places they did have with gluten and dairy free options did not disapopint!
Places I loved:
CoreStrong- a lagree studio. If you don’t know this about me, I used to be a Solidcore coach. Solidcore is a type of megaformer pilates that initially started as lagree when it was founded. They obviously changed the workout a bit to be able to claim it as their own, but the moves and the foundation are pretty much the same. CoreStrong was a good workout, empowering, and the coaches wer eso incredibly helpful. I’ll definitely be going back when I’m back in Boise for ECO 2022.
The STIL- an ice cream shop with plenty of gluten free and dairy free options. They also had boozy ice cream flavors that sounded to die for! I got the DF pumpkin ice cream with GF maple pecan cookies and boy was it DELICIOUS. It was a little sweet for my taste but that is what I expect when I am getting dairy free ice cream at an ice cream parlor. You must go to the STIL!!!
Fork- A restaurant on their main street that utilizes local and organic ingredients when possible. If I could stay another day I would get another meal at Fork. With the cutest ambiance outside they really knew how to draw you in. My friend and I both ordered fish specials and were extremely pleased for a land locked state.
Wild Root- This is probably the first place that will pop up when you google gluten free dairy free food in Boise. Also on their main strip, it is more of a breakfast lunch place with lots of vegan and gluten free options available. They were so busy when we were there because of the conference but we were able to sneak in there one day. My friend and I both got the keto bowl with extra protein and agreed it was good but I wasn’t dying to go back.
Boise Fry Company- This was by far my favorite place to eat in Boise. The Fry Company has fully gluten free fryers as they only fry fries in them and you know I love a good gluten free fryer. With 6 different types of potatoes (sweet potatoes included) they have something for everyone. They also have gluten free buns but I opted to get my burger plain so I could put it on a bed of greens at home. This was the only place I went to more and once and I wish there was one in my hometown.
The Boise Co-Op- A natural food market in Boise. I personally love supporting small businesses when possible so I opted to get my groceries here as opposed to Whole Foods. They had everything I needed with a homey feel. There also was a hot bar and a burrito bowl bar when vegan and paleo options. Luckily I was walking distance from this cute grocery store!
Perspire Sauna Studio- While not in Boise, still a must visit if you are willing to travel 20 minutes. Your typical sauna studio run by the sweetest people. I love to find an infrared sauna whenever I am traveling to rid of toxins from the airplane and just simply relax. I highly recommend Perspire in Boise, and looking up their other locations whenever you travel in general!
Are you going on a trip to Boise? Make sure you hit up some of these places!
